2004 Lincoln Navigator (Install Jan. 05)
With a motorized tailgate, motorized running boards and motorized rear seats we had to continue the theme with a motorized amp-rack.

The factory offers a flip-down cover for the double DIN radio witch is great for concealing upgraded aftermarket head units.

We opted to install an Eclipse AVN because it fit nicely into the opening and has great ergonomics for controlling all of the audio / video systems including a back-up camera. The original steering wheel controls where retained as well.

An Alpine subwoofer control was installed in the ashtray next to the 12V outlet which still can be closed as well.

The front center console was slightly modified to hold an Eclipse single disc DVD player and 8 disc CD changer. Most of the storage space and the coin holder was retained.

Vizualogic 7 inch headrest screens were used for their perfect match and great performance. Each one has its own IR audio transmitter built in, so you can listen to each screen with IR headphones.

Every passenger has its own monitor all the way to the third row. No one is left out.

Here is a picture of the original rear center console. The armrest / cover, cup holder and rear panel were retained for the new console.

Stretched forward to meat the front console and slightly rearward gave us enough room for 3 down-firing 10” JL Audio subs. Note the great match of the vinyl and the integration of the original parts for a factory look.

We were even able to retain enough space for a Sony Playstation 2 and some game controllers on top of the new console / sub box.

Here you can see the 3 JL Audio 10W6V2’s, each has its own 0.65 cu. ft. sealed enclosure. Also notice the solid steel brackets to secure the new box to the vehicle.

Since we had a “Superman” theme going (per the customer’s request) we added a logo highlighted with red neon for a cool effect.

Behind the third row of seats (also motorized) there was just enough room to house two Zapco Competition series amplifiers. For a concealed look and durability the top was finished in carpet while the amp rack itself is covered in vinyl.

With either the push of a concealed button or on the Viper alarm remote the motorized amp rack opens up. This will not work if the tailgate is closed, nor will the tailgate close if the amp rack is open.

Once the amp rack opens, red neon comes on to highlight another “Superman” logo along with Sound in Motion credits. The amplifiers are force-fan cooled with the hot air exiting through the oval opening in the front of the amp rack.

A close-up look at the linear actuators and custom brackets used to move the amp rack. 100lb ball-bearing tracks were utilized for a smooth operation.

The jack was relocated into a custom made storage box along with all the MB Quart crossovers in the left rear side panel were the original subwoofer once resided.
